It all started with a media center.  The idea behind OkVerify was born during a trip to Brooklyn, NY. After browsing online classified ads, Todré Land boarded a Brooklyn bound subway car in hot pursuit of a media center to feature in his living room.

Upon emerging from a subway stop in Brooklyn, Todré surveyed hisMedia Center unfamiliar surroundings. It was 9pm on a dark Tuesday night, and the streets were deserted. Soon he would be entering a stranger’s home and he had not informed anyone of his whereabouts. It dawned on him that if he entered an unsafe environment, it could take days before anyone would come to his rescue, by then, it would likely be too late.

Though the transaction was completed smoothly, Todré couldn’t quench his thoughts of how the evening could have ended. In addition to gaining a new piece of living room furniture, Todré left Brooklyn with the makings of an idea that he believed would benefit many people.

Todré recognized the variety and frequency of circumstances under which strangers arrange personal meetings.  From events originating from online classified ads and online dating websites to those between in-home service providers and would-be clients, people carelessly enter situations that have the potential to become unsafe often.  With that in mind, Todré realized the necessity of a service that would allow these types of meetings to be conducted more safely.

As this idea grew more concrete, Todré shared it with two friends, Adelyn Zhou and Martin Andrews.  Together, they have worked diligently to bring this idea to fruition.

Thus, OkVerify.com, a personal safety monitoring service that aids users in emergency situations by sending help quickly, was born.
