How can OkVerify help me?

OkVerify is a reliable and convenient way to expedite the arrival of aid to you in an unsafe situation or emergency.

How does OkVerify work?

Three easy steps:
1. Tell us a little about your event
2. Tell us when to contact you
3. Tell us which Lifeline to notify if you don’t respond
OkVerify will attempt to contact you at the time of your choice. If you can not be reached after several attempts, OkVerify will share your event details with your Lifeline so that they may provide you with further assistance. View our tour for more information.

What happens after my information has been shared with one of my Lifelines?

Your Lifeline is tasked with providing you with further assistance.

What if my Lifeline(s) can’t be reached?

You may choose for OkVerify to contact the police on your behalf in instances when your Lifelines are unavailable. The 9-1-1 call option is available to you at the time that your event is scheduled with OkVerify.

How does the 9-1-1 call option work?

When this option is selected, OkVerify will contact the police on your behalf  if your Lifelines are unavailable. Please note that you may be assessed a fee by your local police department when the police are contacted in non-emergency situations. Therefore, when possible, you are strongly urged to respond to OkVerify’s attempts to contact you to avoid unnecessarily exercising this option, and thereby avoiding such fees.

What information about my event must I share?

OkVerify requires only that you submit the date, time, and location of your event. However, you are strongly encouraged to submit additional information including: the name(s) of the person(s) you are meeting with, their phone number, your method of transportation, and the address of the meeting location, along with any other information that you would like to share.

Why should I submit additional information about my event?

In deciding how much information to share about your event, consider what your Lifeline would need to know if OkVerify must contact them on your behalf. OkVerify encourages you to provide as much information as possible so that your Lifeline is able to provide you with assistance quickly.

What measures does OkVerify take to keep my event information private?

The information that you provide to OkVerify is kept private. Your information is only shared if you do not respond to OkVerify’s contact attempts. At that point, OkVerify will share your information with one of your Lifelines in an effort to ensure that you receive the assistance that you need.

How do I declare that I am safe and prevent OkVerify from sharing my information?

You may declare that you are safe, thereby preventing your information from being shared, in 1 of 3 ways:

  1. By replying to one of OkVerify’s attempts to call or text message you
  2. By calling us at 646-583-3434 (or toll-free at 877-717-1798)
  3. By logging into your account at OkVerify.com to deactivate your event

*Please note that if in the Contact Plan you are scheduled to be called twice, you may not respond to a missed call with a text message. However, you may respond to all OkVerify contact attempts by phone.

What is a “Contact Plan”?

A Contact Plan is created for each event and indicates how you would like OkVerify to contact you. Your Contact Plan allows you to declare when you want to be contacted, how OkVerify should contact you (via phone and/or text message), and which Lifelines to notify if you are unable to be reached.

How will OkVerify contact me?

OkVerify will contact you via text message or phone call.

How frequently will OkVerify contact me?

OkVerify will contact you only at the times of your choosing and only in regard to your scheduled events.

How can I postpone the time that I’ve selected for OkVerify to begin attempting to contact me?

Prior to your event, you may log-in to your OkVerify account and modify the start time of your event. After the start time of your event has passed, you are given the option to delay the service by 30 minutes when contacted by OkVerify.

My Lifelines

What is a “Lifeline”?

A Lifeline is an individual that you have chosen to be contacted when, after several attempts, OkVerify is unable to reach you. At which point, he/she will receive details pertaining to your event in order to provide you with assistance. A Lifeline is typically a trusted friend or family member.

What does it mean for a Lifeline to be verified?

A Lifeline becomes verified once OkVerify has confirmed the Lifeline’s willingness to participate and also confirmed that the contact information that we have on file for the Lifeline is correct.

How do my Lifelines become verified?

When you nominate someone to act as your Lifeline, OkVerify contacts them via email to inform them of your request. Once the Lifeline confirms their willingness to participate by following the prompts in the email, they will become verified. If the prospective Lifeline does not utilize email, you will need to instruct them to contact OkVerify at 646-583-3434 (or toll-free at 877-717-1798) in order for them to be verified.

Which of my Lifelines will my information be shared with?

OkVerify will attempt to reach your Lifelines in the order that you submit them. The first Lifeline to confirm his/her availability and willingness to help you will receive your event details. After which, any other Lifelines who reply to an OkVerify message will be informed only that you are already being assisted.

Does the location of my Lifeline matter?

Your Lifelines may be located anywhere in the United States. It not necessary that you and your Lifelines live in the same state.

Is my relation to my Lifelines important?

You may choose anyone that you would like to act as your Lifeline. While most users select friends and/or family members, the choice of Lifelines is left solely to your discretion.

How many Lifelines am I allowed to add to my account?

You may add a maximum of 5 Lifelines to your account and you may choose which, if any, to add to each Contact Plan. However, please note that in order to select the 9-1-1 call option, you will need to add three verified Lifelines to your Contact Plan.

Being a Lifeline for Others

As a Lifeline, what are my responsibilities?

If the user is unable to be reached after several contact attempts, Okverify may contact you to provide the user with further assistance. At which point, you will be required to confirm your current availability to assist the user. If you agree to help, the user’s event details will be shared with you. Once OkVerify has shared the user’s event details with you, it becomes your sole responsibility to provide the user with further assistance. OkVerify recommends that you attempt to contact the user. If you are unable to, OkVerify recommends that you consider contacting the police.

As a Lifeline, what happens if I am unavailable when I am contacted by OkVerify?

If you are unavailable when contacted by OkVerify, we will attempt to contact an alternate Lifeline.

As a Lifeline, how may I receive event details from OkVerify?

You may receive the user’s event details via email, text message, or phone.

What does it mean to be verified?

As a Lifeline, you become verified once OkVerify has confirmed your willingness to participate and also confirmed that the contact information that we have on file for you is correct.

How do I become verified?

When you are nominated to act as a Lifeline, you will be contacted via email and informed of the OkVerify user’s request.
